Overview

EarthCraft House builders make an extra effort to build a home that is energy efficient, durable, and has healthy indoor air quality. The owner of a green, sustainably built home plays an important role in maintaining these benefits. This course teaches homeowners how to maintain their green, sustainably built home so they can continue to enjoy lower energy bills, reduced maintenance costs, and healthy indoor air quality. This course covers:

  • the definition of green building
  • the benefits and characteristics of an EarthCraft House
  • how to identify and solves problems that waste energy
  • cleaning tips that do not pollute indoor air quality
  • advice on renovating your EarthCraft House without compromising its benefits

Target Audience

This course is for current EarthCraft House owners, people considering purchasing an EarthCraft House , and anyone interested in learning more about the benefits of a green built house.

Learning Objectives

  1. Educate participants on the benefits of a green, sustainably built home and their role in maintaining the benefits.
  2. Provide participants with a definition and concept of green building that will help them make informed decisions about the home purchases they make.

Southface Residential Green Building Services provides technical assistance on environmentally-sustainable building and community design, building science, energy efficiency and renewable energy. Our clients include the private sector, government agencies, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and utilities. As a 501(c)3 private, non-profit education, research and technical assistance organization.

Residential Green Building Services promotes the EarthCraft House, LEED for Homes, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR, Building America Builders Challenge programs, as an adjunct to advocating sound building science practices. Southface has expertise in all of these areas, and is skilled at assisting builders and architects in using a wholistic approach to creating high performance buildings.
