Building Commissioning: Ensuring High Performance Green Buildings

| Register Now | Start Course |

Overview

As building systems have become more sophisticated, designers and contractors have specialized and focused on smaller areas of expertise. As a result they are less able to coordinate with each other to ensure building systems work together as an integrated whole.

Building Commissioning:

  • Facilitates all parties working together to ensure that the facility functions as intended.
  • Fine-tunes building systems to operate at optimum efficiency which saves money and minimizes wear and tear.
  • Ensures thorough and complete O&M manuals and training are provided to the operations staff.
  • Includes a process of systematic testing of building systems which helps identify problems more accurately and quickly than the standard punchlist inspection.

Target Audience

Building owners, design teams, contractors, product manufacturers and others responsible for the design and construction of high performance buildings.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand the benefits of building commissioning for the building owner, design team, contractor and facilities staff.
  2. Review "real world" building commissioning case studies.
  3. Gain experience with a variety of building commissioning educational resources.
