Overview

This course is meant as a supplement to the LEED for New Construction (LEED-NC) 2.2 study guide which covers LEED credit requirements in detail as relates to new construction. The USGBC’s LEED for Schools is a rating system specifically designed for schools and is very similar to the LEED 2.2 version, with some modification for the specific characteristics of the schools environment. It is highly recommended that you view the LEED 2.2 Study Guide course before viewing this module to get a comprehensive understanding of all credits in the rating system. The module topics in this version will include only those credits specific to schools that are different from LEED-NC 2.2. The intent, requirements, issues and strategies associated with each of the school credits that differs from LEED-NC 2.2 will be covered for each of the following credit categories.

  • Sustainable Sites
  • Water Efficiency
  • Energy and Atmosphere
  • Materials and Resources
  • Indoor Environmental Quality
  • Innovation

Target Audience

Building owners, design teams, contractors, product manufacturers and others responsible for the design and construction of K-12 schools.
