John Adams, has been involved with building operations since 1980 through his work at Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute. In the beginning, most of his work focused on manufacturing facilities. By 1999, he worked on building efficiency almost exclusively. His engineering design and improvement projects at Georgia Tech and in private consulting include HVAC optimization, ventilation engineering, heating/cooling renovations, indoor air quality, safety vent hoods, compliance consultations, regulatory penalty mitigation and building automation/simulation/commissioning.
Other activities include:
- Mr. Adams has been involved with several LEED projects, currently serves USGBC on the LEED Existing Buildings Core Committee and is a LEED Existing Buildings & LEED Costs Faculty.
- Mr. Adams also provides short term technical support as a consultant to a variety of companies in the area of LEED certifications, facility commissioning, indoor environmental quality, HVAC optimization, high performance buildings, power management, renovations and sustainability/greening.
- He is a Registered Professional Engineer in 20 states.
John’s projects include:
- On loan from Georgia Tech, Mr. Adams provided expert support to the U.S. Department of Energy, US Army, and currently General Services Administration, providing technical services to save energy and taxpayer dollars by advancing energy efficiency and water conservation, promoting the use of distributed and renewable energy, and improving utility management and sustainability decisions at federal sites.
- At the General Services Administration he provides LEED Accredited Professional support, commissioning, building automation, and HVAC services on new and existing buildings.
Education:
- John holds a Bachelors and Masters in Mechanical Engineering and a MBA.
